living room tour // round two

by Kaylah Stroup
I’ve been living in my cute little apartment for nearly eight months now. The living room was the first room I finished decorating, and shortly after I shared photos on the blog. I had thought it changed a lot since then but upon looking back, I guess not. It’s officially home now, and somehow that makes it feel like it looks different to me.

I think the biggest change since the first time I shared photos of the room might actually be a small one, the TV. A few people even mentioned in the original post how neat they thought was I didn’t have a television in my living room. When I moved in I figured the best place for my TV was my bedroom so I could watch Netflix in bed, which I definitely do every night! I rather like falling asleep to noise. But I missed sitting on the couch and watching TV. It’s not that I missed certain shows but I missed the routine of folding laundry and watching TV, or curling up on my couch to watch a movie. With winter coming, I will inevitably be spending more time indoors so I’m happy to have finally added the final thing the room seemed to be missing.

Your home is lovely! I LOVE the mirror-globes and the blue couch. It even matches the eyes of your cat (really important). x kayleigh // mylittlejeans

Two things: 1. Where did you get that (I think) constellation map next to the big skeleton poster? And 2. Can you post a picture of the two glass cabinet doors that are in the background of the second picture? Thanks, Kaylah!

It's from a book called "The Stars", you can find copies of it on ebay.

There are pictures of those cabinets in this post:

Your apartment looks lovely! It's seems to have so much natural light, and the sofa looks very inviting to spend some autumny afternoons on 🙂 I love the mid century furniture style, and I kinda wish I had the money right now to redecorate my own living room with those. If I would see these pictures in a random place, I'm sure the way of decorating with the plants and the subjects on the posters would make me think of you!

Kaylah October 2, 2014 - 8:31 pm

Thanks so much!! 🙂

I have no idea if this compliment will sound weird or not, but I really love that you have so many collections, but at the same time your apartment always looks so put together perfectly, and not cluttered 🙂

I've been following your blog for about a year now, I found your Instagram first and practically fell in love with your style and photographs. You have amazing talent and you inspired me to get back into photography. Something I left when I left high school and don't know why I ever did. Thank you for running this blog. Also, your home is beautiful.

Kaylah October 3, 2014 - 5:03 pm

Oh my goodness, thank you so much Sheridan!! I'm so happy to hear you're getting back into photography. 🙂

This is hands down one of the coolest living rooms I've ever seen. I do also love how you have so much of what you love and collect on display yet the place is still tidy. It's so great.

Kaylah October 3, 2014 - 5:04 pm

Thank you, Charity! 🙂

I love how you recycled someone's wedding photos, I hate how old photos like that get thrown away.

My mom has those world mirrors in her black and white themed bathroom. I love them.

I wish I had your knack for having lovely things on display without the room looking cluttered. You've got so many great treasures!

Marine October 4, 2014 - 2:52 pm

I love that your living room is fairly minimal! By that I mean, you have three pieces of furniture and you've managed not to overwhelm the room with decorations. That's something Shawn and I have been struggling with every time we move. Our furniture was bought to fit our first ever apartment, and most of it doesn't suit our current place. And we have years of accumulated eclectic decor that we love, but that would overwhelm our place if we put it all out at once. I haven't posted any pictures of the place we moved into back in June because there isn't a single room that feels 'finished'. I love seeing other people's places as inspiration though!
