Recently I went on a few bike rides where I just carried a film camera in hopes of shooting a few rolls. When I carry both film, and digital I always end up doing the whole deal where I take the same shot with every camera on me – because c’mon they all turn out different, right? So just carrying film prevents that and forces me to work harder to get the shot I want instead of letting film take the backseat. Anyway, here are some shots from the film I got developed that don’t really fit a theme other than being photos I liked (+ of things I like – bike, plants, puppy, Cleveland)
I’m really excited about that first shot. Last year a friend’s grandfather passed away. He was a photographer and had a ton of equipment that I was lucky enough to “inherit”. In the massive box of camera goodies I was gifted what stole the show for me was the Yashica Mat 124g. I’ve wanted one for so long but the price tag kept me away. Now I own one that’s worth tons in sentimental value! His grandpa used to shoot weddings with this amazing thing! I’d been putting off loading it up with film for a while now just because I was intimated. I finally loaded her up but haven’t managed to make it all the way through a roll of film. I can’t wait to finally see what amazing images it captures. Ideally I’d like to finish a roll before June’s big road trip so I have a better idea of what to expect from it but we’ll see how that goes.
