found on the beach

For the longest time I’ve been wanting to do something more with my beach trash finds but I just haven’t been sure exactly what that is. I would love to leave my arrangements for others to find but I’m not sure how long they’d last with the waves and although doing this has never really been about cleaning up litter (because lets be real here what I’m doing doesn’t even make a dent), leaving it behind just feels wrong. I finally thought of the perfect project for my finds so the last few times I’ve gone to the beach I’ve been gathering things and not throwing them away when I leave but instead bagging them and keeping them until a later day. The hatch of my car has handful of tote bags full of bottle caps, combs, lighters, hair clips, and other strange beach finds waiting to be turned into something awesome.

Since I’ve been keeping what I pick up, unlike my other photosets, the things in this set weren’t all picked up on the same day. I really like the impact being able to say “these were all found on the same day” makes since it gives you an idea of just how bad the trash on beach is. But using my finds from a few different trips gives me a lot more control over the finished look. I had a ton of fun picking out some of the more colorful things from my big old bag of “treasures” for this layout.

You can find previous sets under my “found on the beach” tag.
