Can you believe it’s time to start writing end of the year round up posts? Me either! I have no idea where the year went but I do know that I started using some really awesome things over the last twelve months. I’ve never really done a round up post quite like this one but there was a handful of items that I really wanted to blog about because they made such an impact on my life. So, in alphabetical order, the six best things I started using in 2016 are…
Aveda Hand Relief Moisturizing Creme. THE best lotion, ever. Not only does it leave my hands so soft and moisturized, it also smells heavenly. Shortly after getting this I got my hands on another Aveda lotion, their candrimā™ body lotion, which is equally as amazing. So maybe it’s just Aveda? Either way, I have literally never used a better lotion! My skin gets incredibly dry in the winter (because I really reeeally love hot showers) so this lotion has been a godsend!
Digit. I already shared my love of Digit here. Nothing has changed since then except for the fact I’ve saved even more money! I really don’t think there is any one who wouldn’t benefit from using Digit!
Diva Cup. I’m sorry if you’re flinching already. This has been something I’ve wanted to write about since I first bought it earlier in the year. I know a lot of people are really grossed out talking about periods but I’m not and I honestly consider my diva cup LIFE CHANGING. Seriously. I used to constantly stress about leaking so my period was a nightmare. SO much anxiety. But with my diva cup, I know I have nothing to worry about! I honestly don’t know why it took me so long to get one but I will never ever ever go back to tampons. Paired with a period tracker, I use Flo, you will never stain your favorite undies again! I love it so much that I could probably ramble on and on about my diva cup forever. I absolutely encourage you to look into getting one.
Fitbit Alta. I actually had this post almost finished before I realized I forgot to write about one of my Fitbit. Ahh! Whoops. While, I admit, I’ve fallen a little bit and don’t hit 10,000 steps every single day like I did when I first bought it its still a huge motivation to move more. Since getting my Fitbit I, without a doubt, get so much more exercise.
NuMe Curling Wand. I can’t believe how beautiful my hair looks when I use my curling wand. It helps me achieve my dream hair. For the longest time I was a fan of using foam curlers but after getting my curling wand the curls I get from the foam curlers just don’t cut it anymore. You can read my post on my curling wand here.
Wet n Wild H2O Proof Liquid Eyeliner. Back in October I made a list of my favorite beauty products. In that post I mentioned how I loved Stila eyeliner but always went looking for a cheaper alternative when I ran out. I FINALLY found an eyeliner I like more. For $3.99 you’d be crazy not to at least try what I now consider the ultimate eyeliner. It’s so easy to get nice, crisp lines and this stuff stays on so well! It comes out solid solid soliiiid black in one swipe. I can do a perfect cat eye in no time flat with this eyeliner. There is no need for me to ever purchase a different product now that I’ve found this one.
Also, it’s not really along the same lines as the things listed in this post but Professor in a bow tie is a pretty darn fabulous thing that happened this year. Pets by Carvas rules. I really didn’t think it was possible for me to think that cat was any cuter but somehow he is. It makes me smile every single time I see it. Every kitty needs a bow tie.
Did you find any products this year that are off the hook? I wanna hear all about them.
xoxo

So, I've been contemplating the diva cup for awhile. I was nervous to switch to it, though.
I can't say enough good things about it. If you have any questions, no matter how TMI they seem, feel free to email me! 🙂
Thank you! I bought one and will be trying it out on my next cycle. 🙂
Oh man I've been on the fence about switching to a diva cup for years. I actually just bought one for my sister for Christmas (the idea came to me in a dream, haha). Maybe 2017 will be the year of the Diva…
Once you try it you're going to wonder why it took you so long to make the switch! 😉
I bought my diva cup about four years ago and it's one of the best purchases I have ever made. Life-changing.
It really really is!
I love that hand cream! I also get way more exercise now that I have started using a fitbit, it's a really good motivator.

Definitely is! I wasn't sure It'd make a difference for me but I'm hooked!
I LOVE my Diva Cup!!! You feel so much more free because you don't have to keep worrying about tampons all day or if you've had an accident. They're so much better for you as well. I also love not having to get up in the middle of the night.:)
And Professor in a bow tie is adorable!
Dude, right!? Tampons are pretty nasty, they have so many chemicals and seriously, who thought it was a good idea to make them scented?! I do not want that inside me! Also, SO EXPENSIVE. I'm mad no one told me to try out a diva cup sooner!
This post is a tad ironic to me, since last month I found the wet n wet liquid eyeliner too, and my mom and sister found Aveda's lotion 😛 but you're soooo right about the eyeliner, it works like a dream!! Also I've been wanting to try the things you've reviewed so far, like Weird Beard candles. But I've been reading for a while and don't know if this is the best place to write this, but you've really been an inspiration to a lot of us out here by simply being you, and just being awesomesauce 🙂
You need to yourself a Weird Beard candle for Christmas! That peanut butter porter one is seriously just ridiculous!
Thank you so much! <3333
Looks like I need to get my hands on some aveda. I have a basket of hand cremes that are so-so. Id love a really good one!!
I wish I could use a diva cup, I tried once and after much pain and a lovely customer service woman,it was decided it's just too big! Yikes!!
I have to say a big tha,ks for turning me on to Hask Placenta, I was using a shampoo and conditioner that just wrecked my hair so I bought the hask. Loooooove it!!!
Well, Aveda is definitely the way to go then!
I actually meant to write this in the post but there are lots of other menstrual cups out there if you're interested in making the switch. Before I bought the diva cup I read about 32487 reviews of other brands. I'm sure you'll be able to find one that is the perfect fit!
And I'm so happy to hear Hark Placenta is working out for you! 😀
Guhhh, the Wet n Wild liner didn't work for me at ALL, & I was so disappointed because I really wanted it to, for that price – but I had to go back to Stila. And I got a FitBit Alta on Black Friday – the one with gold on the sides. I'm obsessed! Now to start moving more…
That's so funny because when I found it, I thought of you and that comment you left on my other post about eyeliner! That's so weird that a product can work so well for one person and just be awful for another.
Aaaaand this is probably weird, but if you wanna be walkin' buddies once I move over to Tremont I'd be way into that!
🙂
OMG. The Diva Cup is the best thing that's ever happened to my period. Every time I hear a woman complain about some menstrual control issue at the bar or something I'm all like "Heyyyy, you don't know me very well, but have you heard the good word of my period lord and savior the Diva Cup?" I'm like a friggin' menstrual evangelical or something lol!
Hahaha! SAME!
Thanks to you I am hooked on the Hask Placenta leave in treatment. My daughter also got hooked on it. My mother-in-law gave me some it cosmetics to try and I have found the BEST foundation. Your Skin But Better™ CC+™ Cream with SPF 50+. I actually have been told my skin looks better than it ever has. Best thing ever. The it mascara is pretty amazing also.
Ooooh! I'll have to try that foundation! I have a powder or whatever from the same brand that I LOVE but I could definitely use a good foundation.
I love the Diva Cup… I will never use tampons again. Tampons caused me great discomforts for YEARS but I wasn't ready to make the switch until LAST year, 2015. I think it's great. I save so much money, less waste, and I never have to worry about running out of tampons!
Never running out of tampons is such a huge plus. Packing, even just my purse for the day, was always so stressful for me. Do I take three tampons? Or fifteen? Every period is different, how am I supposed to know!?!
Girl! I started using a diva cup this year too and COULD NOT agree with you more. It's a total game changer! I'm not sure what took me so long either, I'm so glad I switched.
WOOO!
I have been using a diva cup for four years and i love it too! I try not to talk about it much since people are so weird about something that happens to half of the population for most of their lives, but if someone asks I can go on and on! It really is life changing!
…Ugh. I really hate that it's so taboo to talk about. I guess I'm not one to talk since I do have this platform where I could be trying to make talking about it a little bit less "weird" but it blows my mind how many people who menstruate are freaked out by talk of it.
yes! and i'm always shocked by how many women are afraid to touch THEIR OWN BODY! or think it is gross.
I wish the diva pin it comes with was less lame, haha! I would wear it with pride!
Same! I guess it's just because it's been drilled into our heads in way or another since we were young that our bodies are something to be ashamed of.
Yes, yes, yes to the menstrual cup! I'm from Australia so I don't use Diva Cup specifically, but I recently starting using another brand of menstrual cup. And I totally agree! It is completely life changing! Every time I use it I want to talk to EVERYONE about how great it is.
Same!
Thanks for putting the word out on the diva cup. It's truly transformative, and I can't believe more women aren't using them. Every time I see that huge aisle of period products, it makes me cringe. We just need one tiny cup, thankyouverymuch.
Right?! Not to mention how expensive all that stuff is!
I use that eyeliner too!! For the most part I like it, but sometimes later in the day it smudges down a bit under my lower lash line 🙁 Any tips?
Oh no! That's a bummer. I haven't had any issues with it. Sorry to not be of any help.
What I love most about this post is, just how many people you got to talking about there period. It was always a strange taboo topic in my family. When I had it for the first time as a teenager and was actually pretty proud, my father looked sternly at me and said: "you're gonna have this for a very long time." What a strange thing to say. Or my mom never used to go swimming in holiday when she had her period and didn't even want to talk about it. My parents didn't even call it by any reasonable name but simply called it "the mess". It took me a while to figure out it's nothing to be ashamed of.
Right!? I was pretty nervous to bring it up but this was a super awesome response. I kind of wish I would have just written a whole post about it.
I love all this Diva Cup love!!! I also love how more women bloggers are talking about their periods more. It's insane how isolating it can feel when you are rocking a crazy menstruation event and have to internalize your struggles and worries about it even around other women. Thank you for having the courage to speak about it publicly.
It really does stink how something that occurs naturally and can't really be stopped is something everyone is so afraid to talk about. The response to this post makes me feel really good though. I love that so many people felt comfortable enough to talk about their period.
