summer bucket list 2018

Summer Bucket List –

Check out a new beach or two. I live five minutes from Lake Erie but somehow end up only visiting one beach. It’s time to find some new sandy shores to wander along.
Use the 70-200mm lens more often. We have this awesome lens but I so rarely use it. I’ve been wanting to start photographing birds so here’s to that!
Press lots of plants. After an unintentional hiatus, I’ve fallen back in love with pressing plans. Here are some tips on pressing plants, if you’d like to start too!
Look for four-leaf clovers. This is the first year in my entire life that I have ever found a four-leaf clover. Not only that but I’ve found seven of them so far! I’m hooked. Must. find. more.

Shoot more film. All the instant photos I took on our wedding road trip got me inspired to start shooting film all over again. I even picked up a cheap disposable camera so I’d have no excuse not to use film.
Stop letting the heat whoop my butt. Embrace sweating. Go to the coffee shop where there’s gooood air conditioning. Maybe just suck it up and buy a good window unit already?!
Make lots of arrangements from found flowers. I’ve always loved picking flowers and making arrangements but didn’t really get a chance to do it very often after moving to the city. These last few months I’ve been stumbling upon lots of beautiful flowers on my walks around the neighborhood and even in my own front yard. Building tiny arrangements brings me so much joy. These containers make the perfect vase.

Eat all of the corn on the cob. Maybe not all of it but a lot of it, for sure. It’s my favorite summer food.
Hit the road!  We spent so long planning for the wedding, thoughts of all other trips just had to be pushed to the side. Now that that’s over its time to get back to planning and taking weekend road trips. We have so many places we want to hit up this summer.
Geocaching date. Every so often Jeff and I will spend a whole day just driving around and geocaching. It’s a blast. We get to wander around new areas and of course, search for ‘treasure’. I’m so ready for another one of those days. Here are five reasons to start geocaching, in case you need a push!

At least one long bike ride (but hopefully more.) For the past few years my friends and I have been trying to organize a fifty-mile ride but it just never happens for one reason or another. I want to make this the year it finally happens. I’m really just looking forward to a summer full of bike rides.
Make an effort to catch more sunsets. From the beach, from rooftops, from restaurant patios, from random stops on bike rides. I just want to take the time to slow down and appreciate the beautiful colors a bit more. Anywhere and everywhere.
Less time on my phone, and guilt-free phone-free weekends. I’ve been trying to be more conscious of my phone use. It’s so easy to use the excuse that it’s my job but mindlessly scrolling through instagram certainly doesn’t help any business grow. I want to be present. I want to be there for the people I’m around. I want to be more comfortable stepping away from social media on the weekends. There are so many more important things. Sunsets, for example!

What’s on your summer bucket list?
xoxo

I’ve really gotten back into flower pressing after your post about it and I’m a flower thieving fiend! I walk through a park which has a lot of flowers every single day and every day I sneak a little bud or blossom into my sunglasses case to press when I get home. SUPER jealous of your four leaf clover success because I’ve been looking for two years and nothing! I think there are just too many where I live that if there were four leafed beauties they are very VERY well hidden!!!!
