bedroom tour

by Kaylah Stroup
My bedroom always seems to be the last room I put together. I don’t know why. I wouldn’t even consider this 100% done, although I never consider any room “done”. I enjoy constantly moving things around and changing it up often, as if you couldn’t tell by hair color. Hah. Anyway, my bedroom is finally at a point that I’m pretty happy with, and any changes from here will probably be small ones. So without further ado, I present to you my bedroom (and a whole bunch of pictures of Klaus because there’s no kicking that cutie out of bed!)

It’s a fairly small room but it’s easily the favorite room I’ve ever called “my bedroom”. I have two large windows opposite my bed from which on a clear night I can see the moon perfectly while in bed. It’s pretty incredible, and high up there on things I love most about this apartment.

Thanks!

You have a telescope?!?!?! I am so jealous!!

Kaylah September 4, 2014 - 6:09 pm

It's Jeff's telescope but it basically lives here since he has an even better one at his place.

You should come visit, I'll let you look through it! 😛

Renee-The Hungry Monster September 4, 2014 - 1:37 pm

Such a beautiful bedroom! And Klaus has got to have one of the best puppy smiles I've ever seen 😀

Kaylah September 4, 2014 - 6:11 pm

Haha! He really does! It never fails to make me smile.

Oh I just goshly love this. Dogs belong in bedrooms, for one thing. Adds a whole element of happy, in my opinion. (Pun intended.)

I don't know how you knew to put a bowler hat on that racoon, but he looks like he was born wearing it. Such a rascally gentleman.

Aaaaaand the map. Perfect encapsulation of a travel-loving heart.

Ok I'll stop raving before I creep you out.

Kaylah September 4, 2014 - 6:12 pm

Haha. Isn't that hat just perfect for him!? He looks naked without it now that I've seen how amazing he looks with it.

Lostvestige September 4, 2014 - 1:51 pm

Your bedroom seems so cozy! It looks perfect and totally you!

Kaylah September 4, 2014 - 6:11 pm

Thanks!

pppatience2012 September 4, 2014 - 2:21 pm

I love the raccoon! It's little hat is adorable!!

Kaylah September 4, 2014 - 6:13 pm

I know, I can't get over how great the hat looks on him!

Syamim Hashim September 4, 2014 - 2:26 pm

I envy your period table. I've never seen any periodic table bigger than the size of a book.

Kaylah September 6, 2014 - 9:19 am

Yeah, it's definitely one of my favorite things ever!

dissolvedintosomething September 4, 2014 - 2:30 pm

I love the stuffed raccoon with the little top hat! So cute. Does he have name? I don't have any taxidermy pieces (though I kind of want some), but if I did I think I'd have to give them names!

Kaylah September 6, 2014 - 9:19 am

Nope, but only because I've never been able to think of anything super awesome. Any suggestions?!

Tiny Grey Cat September 4, 2014 - 4:43 pm

Ahhh, Klaus is such a handsome woof!
I love the raccoon – I have a duck who also wears a hat 🙂

What type of telescope is that you've got there? I've been wanting one for ages but I'm not sure what the best is!! Also adore this room, perfect!!

Kaylah September 6, 2014 - 9:20 am

I'm not sure. It's just something cheap Jeff picked up at a garage sale. It's still really neat to look through.

julia September 4, 2014 - 5:33 pm

i especially like the periodic table above the bed…. wonder where i can find one like this 😀

Johnna LaFaith September 4, 2014 - 6:31 pm

Could your room be any sweeter. I love how crisp it is. As much as I try to deny it, I really am a morning person and waking up in a room like this would be a dream. The details are precious. I love the pennants. I only own 2 pennants but they are so sweet. In fact, I recently found a vintage pennant for my Boyfriend a "just because" gift. I suppose when I like something, I want everyone else to like it too. hah. Beautiful space.

Kaylah September 6, 2014 - 9:21 am

Morning person here too!!

Susy Valencia September 4, 2014 - 6:49 pm

Kaylah September 6, 2014 - 9:21 am

Thanks so much, Susy!

zoe September 4, 2014 - 8:22 pm

This space is incredible! I love everything about it, particularly the sciencey-school elements…the periodic table, the phrenology bust, the multiple globes and body parts. It's a total dream to me! I take so much from your home decor posts. You have the coooolest taste.

Thank you, Zoe!

Marine September 4, 2014 - 9:37 pm

So lovely! And I love your little pile of plugs. Also, I don't understand why my closet can't look so organized like that! I think I need some little bins.

Kaylah September 6, 2014 - 9:22 am

Haha, I definitely need a better way to store my plugs.

Those bins are seriously the best. (I think they might even be from WalMart, hah!) Perfect for storing undies, bras, scarves and misc.

Jordyn September 4, 2014 - 10:48 pm

Totally in love with the US map you have. I would love to have one of those!

Kate September 5, 2014 - 11:29 am

Ugh, I want your room! Lol. You have lots of awesome things, but it doesn't look cluttered at all. I'm especially loving your maps and periodic table, and going to be seriously considering having a pair of the hands jewelry holders for myself. 🙂

Kaylah September 6, 2014 - 9:23 am

Thank you so much, Kate! 🙂

Bee. September 5, 2014 - 11:31 am

I really want your telescope and dapper raccoon.

Thank you, Eve!

Ruth Johnston September 5, 2014 - 12:54 pm

I love the big posters you have in your room, it's nice that you've managed to fill it with things without it being cluttered too.
P.S. How cute does Klaus want to be?! :3

Kaylah September 6, 2014 - 9:24 am

Hey, I come here and lurk all the time and never comment but I just wanna say that your home decor is awesome and you have amazing taste and I just really love that you share your unique style with the world! Thanks for making this blog.

Ashley Lutton September 7, 2014 - 2:39 am

I would love animal anatomy things all over like you have with human anatomy. Just don't know where to find such novelties?

aubrey e September 7, 2014 - 3:29 pm

love this! i think it's an optical illusion but in the 8th picture down, it looks like there is no way that that door fits with that door way. can you see it? am i crazy? haha!

Kaylah September 8, 2014 - 4:52 pm

Hahahaha. I didn't notice that. That's hilarious. It's actually just my wide angle lens distorting things.

Jess September 7, 2014 - 4:27 pm

I love -love- all of your collections and nicknacks! I try to do the same but everything gets covered in dust so quickly! What's your cleaning routine like?

Elif September 8, 2014 - 9:08 pm

I was already so jealous of your living room because of your insanely large windows that basically brighten everything and now that I see your bedroom I can say that the brightness is all around the apartment. Of course your decorative skills are off the hook and Klaus is looking handsome! Love it.

luzmaría moonandroses September 8, 2014 - 9:53 pm

Looks pretty nice, love the corner with your TV set

Morgan Gaw September 9, 2014 - 5:15 am

What a lovely room! I really like your entire room but I was excited to see the lamp in the corner of the last picture. I've looked at that on ModCloth and have contemplating getting it.

Emily September 10, 2014 - 7:42 pm

I know you were more of a cat person before adopting Klaus (although I know you adore Crum/most animals) but the fact that when you were ready to adopt a dog you chose one who turned out to be some kind of bull breed mix is awesome! He is so handsome and if he were golden tan would look identical to my American pit named Saint! You're bringing so much positivity to the breed and adoption and I can't thank you enough for it!

And your room is awesome! 🙂 Would love to see a picture of all your different plugs for your next "collections" post!
