This is one of the few dresses that isn’t black and white striped that managed to survive my most recent closet clean out. (Shop my closet sale goes live tomorrow! Eeee!) My style has changed so drastically over the past few years. It’s funny because it happens so slowly that I don’t really even realize it’s happening until one day nearly everything in my closet just isn’t me anymore or is something I no longer can figure out how to style.

That’s actually one of the main reasons I like to document my outfits, to watch my style evolve. Things I used to wear still look cute to me, but they no longer feel right on me. I tried this dress on with a few different cardigans, tights, and shoe combos before deciding on this one because it just felt good.

early 2013 // late 2013 // 2014

This outfit is cute but still super practical, which is all that I care about anymore. I was able to climb around on the drift wood because of my palladium boots, which surprisingly look awesome with a dress! Dresses and boots paired together are kind of a new thing for me. This was probably the very first time ever that I have been ecstatic about how they looked together. The dress is cute and feminine but long enough that I don’t have to worry about people seeing my butt while climbing around and picking up things for my found on the beach project. Plus the color is the best, which probably is what really accounts for it’s lengthy stay in my wardrobe.
Anyway, enough rambling about personal style. Hope you’re having an excellent Tuesday!

xoxo

PS. Happy first day of autumn!

Dresses, boots, and black tights has been my fall/winter uniform for years. Welcome to the club, it's a great look on you!

Haha, thanks! 🙂

Ooh I just LOVE that color! So pretty. I also love how your tattoos peak through the sheer fabric of your tights, it looks really neat. I'm working on figuring out how to style boots with dresses, because as much as I love ballet flats, they just aren't all that practical for exploring!

Haha, I like how my tattoo peeks too! I wasn't sure how I'd feel about tights now that I had a big tattoo on my leg but I rather love how it looks.

As well as these boots (which I love with dresses!), Palladium also has a bunch of flats styles: http://www.palladiumboots.com/shop/us-women/us-women-footwear.html?footwear_line=138
Can't recommend them enough, best shoes for exploring!

LOVE your Stay Home Club patch! That's so good. Also love all your pins 🙂 …and your hair. …and pretty much everything.

I love that outfit. I like how casual the boots and the jacket make that dress seem this time around.

Thanks! 🙂

Love this outfit! The buttons are a nice touch of detail.

I've been wondering, how long do you leave punky colour in? I've been following your blog for a bit now and used your hair guides in making the jump to colorful hair (so helpful! thank you!) and I like punky colour much better in comparison to Manic Panic. Just curious how long you keep it in.

Kaylah September 24, 2014 - 1:37 pm

Thanks, Amber.

As of late, normally around three hours.

Those shoes look so cute and durable, I seriously need a pair. Christmas Wish List! =)

And dresses with jean jackets are the best look. I'm on the prowl for the very perfect jean jacket, have been for awhile – but still no luck. My local thrift stores might be the logical place to find one!

They definitely are! I can't believe all I've put them through and they show no sign of it other than being a little bit dirty!

It took me forever to find the perfect jean jacket! Good luck on the hunt!

Happy Autumn!
Love the colour of this dress, and the shape is simple but so effective and versatile. And I definitely LOVE boots with dresses. Looking forward to the weather getting cooler so that I can get all my best boots out of storage!!

Dress, tights and boots – always! This is why I love Autumn.

That dress and the fox belt are super cute!

It's such a great dress. You style it very well! Oooooh yeah I love the boots/ tights/dress combo. It's mostly all I wear in the fall and winter.

I love seeing this dress styled in different ways! This more casual take on it looks awesome on you. The jean jacket and sheer tights are really cute with it. I can't wait to be able to break out my jean jacket this year!

I really love the colour of that dress (as well as your hair, it is amazing!), and it goes so well with the denim jacket. Wicked that your tattoo shows through your tights too!

Kaylah September 24, 2014 - 1:40 pm

Thanks! 🙂

I love that dress, I have the same one, just in that teal/minty hue they were selling! Although I love this color way more, it seems more versatile. And styling boots with dresses/skirts is one of my fav. combos. I do it with my Doc Martens allll the time. But I'm liking the look of these boots way more!

Out of all the stylings you've done, I think this one is my favorite!

Kaylah September 24, 2014 - 1:39 pm

I have the mint colored one too. This colorway is definitely easier to style!!

Thanks, Jenn! It's one of my favorites too.

This color is so pretty for fall! As I have a yellowish-white skin I am always afraid to this type of colors but this is looking so amazing on you, I'll try to find one piece just to check again 🙂 I like your more explorer outfits of late oh, and loving the message in the pro badge! 🙂

Andreea P. September 24, 2014 - 2:27 pm

That color is my favourite color for Autumn but funny enough I don't have anything that color in my wardrobe.

Love this!!! Overall look is super adorable!
