life lately // on film

by Kaylah Stroup

Just a collection of film photos from the last few weeks. There are a few TIM photos thrown in there. I shot a roll with no real expectations, I just shot. I was pretty excited to get them back. I went to pick them up after watching the clock all day only for the woman behind the counter to sheepishly mutter “I sahry, I esssposed ya films.” I have no idea how she did it but she did manage to not ruin three frames worth, and those three shots just so happened to be ones I really liked. I’m so bummed about it though. I shot at some super fun locations, and of such neat things. Guess that’s one of the risks of not developing my own film.  Oh well.

oh, how annoying! i once shot a roll of b&w, only to find out the film was too old and couldn't be developed. which was obviously my own fault and makes your misfortune much worse as it had nothing to do with yourself.. but these are all very lovely! xx

Your TIM shots look great! I think the sign for Why Louisville is my favorite, though! 🙂

As always these are lovely. They make me want to develop the film I've been shooting on!

I live in Louisville and know the Manager at Why Lou 2. Hope you found something to remember the 'ville!

Yep, I bought a Louisville souvenir pennant. I didn't get to spend much time in Louisville since we were on our way home but what I did see of the city was SO CUTE. I'd love to go back.

Lived there for 5 years. You should go back. The cemetery is epic. If you go back over this weekend you can catch Thunder, the big deal leading up to Derby. I'm sure a lot has changed since I left in 2009 but Bardstown Road was always where it's at in the city all the way down to Baxter Road. (Driving down Bardstown with the changing lanes can be a little confusing at first though!)

You might want to try sending your film to Dwayne's Photo (http://www.dwaynesphoto.com/) as I've used them for years and have never had a problem with them yet. Their customer service department is great and they'll still send you your photos, etc. even if you're short on postage or paid the wrong amount. I highly recommend them.

I use Dwayne's for 110 film, but I really hate sending out film like that. I probably should though…

Oh no, you rickrolled us! :-p

Very nice pictures. I especially like the one of the chapel and the one with the deer head in your living room.

That's too bad about the film! But at least you managed to to get a few pictures.

Really great pictures! The one of the cat (?) jumping off the sofa is so cute:-) Sorry to hear about the films tho. At least it's a good thing that you liked the ones you got!

Haha, I'm glad someone noticed Professor jumping! Such a silly capture.

definitely annoying about the film, but also annoying is your racist "impersonation" of the person's accent.

Kaylah April 17, 2014 - 11:43 pm

Plot twist : you're the racist for assuming the race of the woman behind the counter based on what I typed.

FYI – She was white.

Aww that's too bad most of your films got over exposed 🙁 My favorite is the 5th one down, even though there's snow on the ground, the tone makes me think of a warm summer day.

I love the deer head! And the shots of Pittsburgh.
