The other day while looking around for a place to take outfit pictures I stopped at a baseball field that I thought had a nice bridge to take pictures on. Normally there are lots of people there in the evenings so even though I’ve passed it many times I’ve never actually stopped. It turned out to be a pretty great place to take pictures. There was a bunch of old playground equipment strewn about, even a jungle gym in the woods. I waded through more major prickers (seriously, prickers like I’ve never even seen before. My poor legs… Also, I’m pretty sure “prickers” is a colloquialism, you might be more familiar with a briar patch.) to get to it. It was surprisingly sturdy. I’m not sure why it was moved away from it’s original location but it sure is charming in the woods. I definitely plan on going back again for more pictures. Something about urban decay is really neat to me.
Do you remember a little while back when I posted an outfit with a striped shirt that I got from TJ Maxx with elbow pads but the elbow pads were sewn on wrong, one was actually on the inside of my arm instead of on my elbow? Well the other day when I was browsing the racks at TJ Maxx I found another one except this one is even better! It’s black and white striped, far superior to the grey and off white stripes on the other shirt, and the elbow pads are exactly where they should be. I’m so excited about it. This is the perfect shirt. Seriously, all my favorite shirt qualities! It might sound silly to be so pumped about a shirt but finding ones I am 100% happy with is hard!
Happy Monday!

I also finally bought a wearable planter, I’ve been wanting one for so long. I love the idea of sticking little flowers I find throughout my day in it or matching the flowers to my outfit. I was originally a little hesitant to purchase when I read they had magnet backs instead of a pin since I have a history of losing brooches. When it arrived I was kind of shocked how strong of a magnet it has on the back, I don’t think it’ll be an issue at all. On Wearable Planter’s blog they have a little step by step guide of how they dye their planters. I love seeing how things are made, even just a little peek into the process like that is so neat. I can see myself getting a lot of wear out of this baby this summer! (This one is next on my want list, love that shape!)
Happy Tuesday!

I really try not to be swayed to not wear an outfit based on the fact it doesn’t match my hair. I guess that’s the one thing I’ll agree “comes with the territory”, sometimes my hair color just doesn’t look so hot with an outfit I want to wear. But when I pick out an outfit I really like with my hair color it’s one of the best things ever. This is one of those cases. I suppose all colors look okay with black but this color I’m rocking now looks so excellent with black, especially with this shirt! I wish I could find an outfit that felt this great with every hair color I try out.
Well, I’m back to work. Today is painting day round two in my office. Yesterday was quite the adventure but I’ll share more about that when I finally finish up this little project and blog about it. Cross your fingers everything goes a bit more smoothly for me today.

I inadvertently added another camera bag to my collection with this bag from August Wrinkle! I just thought it would make a cute purse but come to find out my camera bag insert fits inside perfectly. It’s actually way better than previous bag I was using the insert in, so much roomier. It also has a ton of pockets which is always a plus. I’ve been pocket obsessed for as long as I can remember. The more pockets a backpack had the more likely it would be the one I chose for my school year. Even to this day my decision to buy a coat, purse or anything really can be based on how many pockets it has. What can I say, I’ve always liked to carry way more stuff than I really need. I mean, c’mon, who doesn’t need a whole pocket devoted to lip balm or gum. Haha!
Hope you’re having a lovely Thursday!

PPS. This is the last post (at least for a little while) with blue hair! Last weekend I ventured into new hair color territory. Can’t wait to share photos!
How lovely is this vintage coat? I got it back in August on my annual birthday antiquing roadtrip. Last stop of the day about ten minutes before we were about to walk out of the antique mall I spotted it. Love at first sight!! It’s the softest velvety material.
Despite how soft it is and how perfect the color is my favorite part might just be what I found in the pocket. There was a ticket to the 1973 Pasadena Rose Bowl. It’s not the fact that it’s the Rose Bowl that is significant to me (I literally couldn’t care less about college football) but I’m just so in love with the fact that 40 years ago someone was wearing this coat. I know, obviously, that nearly all the vintage I own has had a previous owner but to put a real date and event on it makes it feel so special. I wonder who wore it, and what she wore with it. I wonder if she’s still alive and I wonder what she’d think of someone discovering the coat 40 years from the time she wore it and absolutely loving it.
I don’t know about you but thinking about who owned something before I did is one of my very favorite things about buying vintage. Needless to say, I’m keeping the ticket in the pocket and maybe I’ll leave a movie stub from one I see while wearing the coat in it for the next person who owns it to find and hopefully enjoy.
Hope you’re having an excellent Monday!
