    what I’ve been up to…

by Kaylah Stroup April 27, 2020

I spent the first half of the stay at home order playing video games. Guys, I put a lot of hours into State of Decay 2.

This most recent half? Sewing. Lots of sewing. Masks upon masks!

I spent a lot of time debating whether or not I’d make masks to sell. Something about it felt a little icky. I also wasn’t sure whether or not it’d be something folks needed in the long term or if it was like taking advantage of a bad situation. Jeff and I talked about it for a couple of days before I finally came to the conclusion it was something I should do. I also got like forty bazillion messages on Instagram asking if I’d be making them which helped sway me.

The first few were rough on me mentally. I hated that it was something I had to do, something that was a reality. It felt depressing. I had a hard time imagining making a bunch of them.

Every order that goes out now? I’m tickled! I’m so happy folks are doing their small part to keep everyone else safe and healthy. I think I’ve come to terms with the fact this is life now… at least for a while. If I can make something cute that makes someone feel a little less overwhelmed with the idea of having to wear a mask while grocery shopping or at work then that makes me feel good. And until this storm is over, I’ll be behind my sewing machine!

I’ve got a shop update full of masks going live at 12pm EST today (4/27). So be sure to stop by the shop if you’d like to see what I’ve got!

If/when those sell out – no worries I’m already working on the next batch!

Thank you for doing your part to keep your community safe. Thank you for social distancing. Please keep it up (because I’m ready to see my dad again!)

We will survive the darkness. Holy smokes. I love the absurdity of these food stools. Also available in hamburger and of course, ice cream. Some cute washi tape to …

Although I want to, I’m not going to list the things I’m missing right now while we’re stuck at home. I’m sure you’re missing a lot of the same things. I will tell you one thing though – I am glad I had the forethought to get a couple of good long beach trips in …
