Christmas Wishlist 2015

by Kaylah Stroup December 15, 2015
Well, Christmas sure is sneaking up, isn’t it? I’m never really all that prepared for the holidays, at least not compared to my mom who has basically been shopping since August. But by now I usually have at least a little bit of my shopping done. Do you know how much I have done this year? None!!! If I think about it too much I’ll start to panic so I keep pretending I have more time than I really do. I would LOVE to be able to afford the gifts I really want to give people (e.g. camera equipment for Jeff.) Other than really big things that are kind of out of the question, I have no idea what to get anyone. I feel like I’m insanely easy to shop for, I wish everyone on my list was too!

1. Life size skeleton. It’s no secret I collect weird things. I’m pretty patient when it comes to building my collection. I’ve amassed most of it without spending much money at all because I just wait for the right time to pounce on an item. A full sized skeleton is the one thing I’m chomping at the bit to get though. I don’t need one that is super high quality, just better than Halloween quality.
2. Lapel pins! I just recently discovered Pity Party Studios who have one of a terrarium, and Saturn. And this cactus one from This Way To The Circus has been on my list for a while now. But I’m sure there are a million other pins out there that I have yet to discover that I would love as well.
3. I’ve slowly been getting back into the habit of reading which feel so awesome. Two books I’ve been wanting to read are Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson and Smoke Gets In Your Eyes by Caitlin Doughty.
4. Always room for another striped dress in my closet.
5. Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L. This is actually going to be my present to myself (because buying yourself a present for Christmas is a thing? Well it is this year!) I’ve been saving my pennies, and basically counting down that days. I cannot wait to finally get it.
6. I’ve needed a new tripod for a while now. I own three or four of them but they’re all junk. This one by Dolica looks amazing. The three features that really draw me in are the ball head, quick release plate, and the fact that the legs lock in different positions.
7. These last few months, basically ever since I got that boar mount, I’ve been wanting to add more taxidermy to my collection. I’d really be happy to get anything but near the top of my taxidermy wishlist is a weasel. They’re just so cute!

8. I would feel a lot safer walking to the train if I had a bigger knife. I carry a small pocket knife but don’t really feel like it’d be much help. I hate that it’s even something I have to think about but better safe than sorry I guess? I love love love these rainbow ones. Cute but dangerous, I want that to be my vibe.
9. I’d really like a water filter pitcher so that I can stop drinking bottled water. I didn’t realize they came in fun colors!
10. I need a winter coat for play. I already have my nice winter coat but I need one that is super warm for exploring. Something that I can get dirty, and something that it wouldn’t be a huge deal if I accidentally tore it because that stuff happens. Obviously this $250 one from Patagonia isn’t the one but something this style would be perfect.
11. And of course, my Christmas wishlist isn’t complete without a pair of Palladium Boots! Loving this style – plus they’re waterproof!

Guess I should stop browsing for myself now and work on getting these names crossed off my list! What are you wishing for for Christmas this year?
xoxo

Birthday Wishlist

by Kaylah Stroup July 19, 2015
My birthday is sneaking up. Well, not really sneaking… I’ve been saying “my birthday is soon” since probably the first of the year but we’ve finally reached the time where it’s actually soon. On August 2nd I will have been alive for a quarter of a century. I’m always excited about my birthday but I feel like this is kind of a big one.

1 // I’ve been wanting to upgrade my camera for a while now. I’ve just been saving money without having a camera in mind because I knew as soon as I figured out which one I wanted it would drive me crazy not to purchase it right away. I finally decided that the Canon 70D would best suit my needs…and now it’s basically all I think about.
2 // Y’all know how much I love macarons… so you’re most likely not surprised at all a macaron subscription is on this list, right?
3 // A while back I borrowed Jeff’s 35mm 1.4 lens. It was love at first photo. I borrow it every chance I get. That lens made me realize how important good glass was. I want my own L series lens. I always loved my 50mm lens so I feel like the 50mm 1.2 is the obvious choice for me. I will own this lens someday!
4 // Of course there is a on this list.
5 // Love love looooove these new boots from Palladium Boots. Actually, any pair of Palladium Boots would make me a happy gal!
6 // I need all of The Shins albums on vinyl.
7 // An anatomy model of a human skull is the one thing I just cannot seem to get my paws on. I actually attended an estate sale a while back specifically because I saw that they had one only to watch the man in front of me grab it. It hurt so bad. Although I’ve been slowing down on collecting things as I try to declutter this is one thing I am still pinning over.

Another short, albeit very expensive, list this year. There are lots of non-tangible things that I really way for my birthday as well. Bike rides with friends, time spent with family, and of course, a roadtrip with my favorite dude.

Wishlist // Bike Style

by Kaylah Stroup April 8, 2015
1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7 // 8 // 9
not pictured but still awesome – !!!

Spring is in full swing here (errr except for the random cold days we keep getting) and my bike is essentially all I have on my mind. My poor car has been neglected but my body has never felt better. Seriously, you should feel my thighs. I wanted to make a post with little round up of bike related things I’ve been spotting all around the internet. Clothing with bicycle prints, an adorable lunch box, and even a repair kit! I actually bought and to go under it last week. I’m pretty excited to get them. Maybe it will even be the skirt that helps me meet my “bike in a skirt or dress” goal.

Speaking of bikes, I’ve actually taken the pledge to ride my bike everyday this month. I found this website just a couple of days before the first of the month. The goal is to ride your bike everyday in April no matter the distance, or the weather. For every thirty pledges they’re working to donate a bike to Free Bikes 4 Kids. A great cause and an excuse to get out everyday for a ride. I was definitely interested but kind of afraid to commit. I actually waited until we were four days into the month before I was like “yeah, I guess so! I’ve ridden these last four days anyway…” I just don’t want to miss a day and feel super guilty about it. I’m going strong so far! I’ve been able to avoid the rain but doubt that will last for long. April showers might bring May flowers, but they also are whats having me question why I signed up. Heh! Wish me luck! And definitely consider signing up for yourself! We may be a few days in but it doesn’t matter, the sign up is still open and if you’re really concerned you can just make up the days next month.

Christmas Wishlist

by Kaylah Stroup December 14, 2014

1. // Love LOVE love this sweatshirt from Top Knot Goods!
2. // Certainly wouldn’t mind finding this film under the tree. I love all the fun frames that are coming out for instant film, but I like color frame the most.
3. // I’ve known about pitcher plants for a while but recently I wandered into Petitti Garden Center (which if you’re not from Ohio, is a local chain of nurseries) and saw one in person for the very first time. My mind was made right there on the spot, I need one. I’d prefer from there since it’s adjusted to the weather here but if you’re elsewhere and now also need one (totally understandable!) you can buy them on Amazon. They even have good reviews!
4. // I’ve kind of been wanting an iPad lately. Mostly because I want to play minecraft but I mean surely I could use it for business purposes as well, right? Haha
5+7. // Have you guys gathered that I’m positively obsessed with Palladium Boots yet? Well I really hope Santa brings me a new pair. This glow in the dark pair has been on my wishlist since the second I saw them, and lately I’ve been yearning for this pair.
6. // Sex Bomb is my absolute favorite product from Lush. Granted I’ve only tried a handful of things from them, I just can’t imagine anything better than this bath bomb. I haven’t used one in nearly a year. I’m clearly overdue!
8. // After having problems with my eyes focusing for a while, a trip to the optometrist revealed I needed glasses. I love these ones!

9. // I am all about this sweater from Avenle!
10. // I’ve been on a bit of a sweater kick lately, if you couldn’t tell, and I’ve realized my closet is lacking in items to layer underneath them. This button up would be perfect.
11. // Always in need of cute postcards.
12. // I recently discovered I do actually like tea, and oddly enough, after all these years of trying and hating everything, I’ve liked nearly every kind that I’ve tried which is super encouraging. I basically want to try all the teas. Top of my list? This chocolate bananas foster tea! Are you kidding me?! It sounds SO amazing.
13. // Winter is video game season for me. I love curling up under a blanket and getting involved in a game. Two I’m wanting to play are Hyrule Warriors, and Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze.

What’s on your list this holiday season?
xoxo
