project 365 : days 274 – 280

by Kaylah Stroup October 9, 2017

274 : 365 I am dying over Professor’s… everything in that first shot. There are more photos from this little shoot here.

275 : 365 It’s kind of amazing how fresh a new pillow can make your whole living room feel! This one was less than five bucks aaaand I am incredibly pleased with how nicely it ties everything together.

276 : 365 Is it possible to resist one dollar Halloween socks? Nope. Also, matching your hair to your shirt (and shoes) is the best.

277 : 365 For the past two or three years I haven’t been to big on decorating for holidays. This year the urge came back full force and I was disappointed that I had essentially nothing for Halloween. I picked up this pumpkin from Target and feel like, although very minimal, it’s a great start. I plan on stocking up once everything goes on clearance so I’ll be set for next year.

278 : 365 This guy is into the season too!

279 : 365 This doll face may very well be my favorite find ever. The night previous I had actually had a dream about finding a bunch of plastic soldiers on the beach so when I woke up my first thought was ‘I need to go to the beach!’ Not even five minutes after getting there I spotted this little creepy face staring back at me. SCORE!

280 : 365 My estate sale finds of the day. This just might have been the very best estate sale I have ever been to. It was that of a doctor who collected medical quackery and antique odditities. This place just jam packed with all the weirdest stuff. I would have moved in in a heartbeat.

Hope your week is off to an awesome start!

project 365 : days 267 – 273

by Kaylah Stroup October 2, 2017

267 : 365 Just looking real cute in a striped dress. Check out more photos + full outfit details here.

268 : 365 Whoops, I bought a new plant. Those leaves are just so darn pretty.

269 : 365 Bag explorers! Why is everything these little kitties do the absolute cutest?!

270 : 365 I’m working on a post with HelloFresh right now, and I can’t say enough nice things. This was Wednesday night’s meal, sesame beef tacos. I’m so excited to share more and you should probably get stoked too because there will be a giveaway!

271 : 365 Professor is forever getting in my shots, and I’d have it no other way.

272 : 365 What’s that? MORE PLANTS. Despite my planter‘s sad face, this plant is doing so well. It’s gotten so big in the last two weeks.

273 : 365 It’s like 100x more fall at my parents house than in the city. It’s wonderful, and made me immediately want to go home, clean, light all the fall scented candles, and relax. Anyway, I tried to take outfit photos while we were there but ultimately wasn’t pleased with more these two. How cute is this cardigan though!? I had it on my wishlist for a really long time and decided it was time to finally scoop it up.

Happy Monday! Hope your week is off to an excellent start.
xoxo

project 365 : days 232 – 238

by Kaylah Stroup August 28, 2017

232 : 365 Sunday evening outfit photos. You can find the resulting post here.

233 : 365 I hadn’t thought too much about the eclipse before looking out my window and spotting a bunch of my neighbors staring at the sky. I decided to grab my camera and head outside. This is what I shot.  There are a few other shots over on my instagram, they actually became the most liked thing I’ve ever posted.

234 : 365 Earling morning sunshine coming into my office.

235 : 365 The fact that this photo is overexposed almost makes it even more creepy. This expressive little kitten is my favorite photography subject.

236 : 365 I took a few last minute photos for the post on fun lighting around my apartment. Definitely recommend checking that out if you haven’t yet! The rest of the lights are way more awesome than this photo lets on.

237 : 365 Friday’s outfit. Pins by Hemleva, found on Moorea Seal. I feel like this is a pretty accurate depiction of what I’ve been wearing a whole lot of lately. Overalls, bandana, pins + stripes!

238 : 365 I have some new shoes… and I’m obsessed. I was originally leaning toward the black pair but decided I wanted to try something out of my comfort zone. Leopard print is definitely outside my comfort zone. I actually really really love them. They’re super cozy too!

Hope your week is off to a great start!

twenty-seven

TWENTY-SEVEN.

This is officially the “other side” of my twenties. Well, twenty-six was… and twenty-five probably was too but for some reason I tried to hold on the idea that I wasn’t closer to thirty than twenty. No denying it now. Still a little confused how I’m this old but don’t feel any more like an “adult” though.

I’m hoping that by the time this post goes live I’ll already be outside getting some early morning miles on my bike. Ideally I’ll get twenty-seven miles in today but I might poop out early, and that’s fine too. In previous years I’ve written about how I’m going to do something relaxing but if I’ve learned one thing in all my years it’s that I’m happiest and most satisfied when I’m busy. So I’m going to do my best to make it a full day of bikes, beach, coffee, and food!

Sparklers with my dad, then smoke bombs with both parents. This one with my dad looking down is easily the most flattering of the three of us. Later photos would show us choking. Its incredible how smelly those things are. Probably cut at least six months off my life breathing that stuff in. Happy Birthday though, right?

PS. You should check out my instagram stories for a super cute GIF from this shoot that I wasn’t able to include in this post.

Here’s a peek back at previous year’s birthday outfit posts featuring balloons!  2013,  2014, 2015+ 2016! Some things really never seem to change…

Just a little obsessed with four eyed kitties right now.

This dress would look so pretty paired with these boots. After the pair of boots rocked in this post, I’m hooked. I want so many pairs. Those totally opened up a whole new style chapter for me.

These vases are the absolute cutest, especially grouped together like that!

This patch!

Me as a mug.

▴ Love love love the idea of these bathtub flowers. They’re so pretty, and anything that makes baths smell good is cool in my book.
▴ Donut earrings!
▴ These cactus sticky notes are so cute!!
▴ Marina makes the cutest needle felted creatures.
▴ Do you know what today is? The newest Legend of Zelda game‘s release date! SO PUMPED. Can I tell you something really dumb though? I pre-ordered a while ago, thought the money was already taken from my account so yesterday when a new charge showed up I was like “Oh no! Someone stole my card!” So….I called to dispute the charge. It took until like 10pm last night for me to realize “Crap! It was Zelda!” I feel really dumb, and now I have to fix this situation. Either way, I’ll be playing some day soon!
▴ This jumanji board game is kind of amazing, and so so so much cooler than that one they released after the movie.

Happy Friday!

project 365 : 21 – 29

by Kaylah Stroup January 30, 2017
21 : 365 Warm winter days, and all the stripes! Full outfit details + more photos here.

22 : 365 I love seeing my nieces and nephew enjoy my parent’s amazing yard. That pond was such a huge part of my childhood. I spent so much of my time digging in the clay, building dams out of small rocks, and just getting dirty so it’s fun to see them doing the same thing.

23 : 365 We’re fiiiinally starting to hang things around here. We haven’t made much progress, and the living room walls are still completely empty but I’m the kind of person who isn’t quite happy with a space until all the
open wall space is decorated somehow so this feels really good even if it’s happening one random piece at a time.

24: 365 Always a candle or seven burning around here. This neroli + eucalyptus one is a new favorite.

25 : 365 The newest addition to my collection of kind of strange things – a full sized skeleton! Woo! If you’re been reading for a while you might recall how it’s been on my wishlist for a looong time. I finally just went for it and couldn’t be more pleased. I’m not actually sure where I’ll end up displaying him but for now he’s hanging out in my office.

26 : 365 Oh look, more ridiculous things from around my house. What a surprise! My giant ice cream cone lamp is getting used more than ever in the new apartment. I’ve had it for years, and it still makes me smile every time I plug it in.
27 : 365 Sooo, I’m officially an adult now... or something? I got a big box of cleaning supplies in the mail and it honestly felt as exciting as Christmas. I had never used Mrs. Meyer’s brand previous to the day Jeff and I moved in together. When we were cleaning up his old apartment I used one of his  products and was like “Uhm? What the heck smells so good?” Since that day I’ve been looking for every excuse to use it because it seriously just smells that good.
Fast forward to last week when I see an ad for Grove Collaborative who carry all sorts of natural products. I spotted the Mrs. Meyers section and immediately filled my cart. My apartment? It’s super clean, and smells amazing too! Part of me wants to try other scents when these run out but that lavender is just too good.
28 : 365 ELYCIA CAME TO VISIT! Ahhh! We met through blogging about around six years ago but haven’t really been all that great about finding time to get together these last few. It was so nice to finally meet her youngest, show off the new apartment, and catch up. We ate tons of amazing food, and had lots of great laughs. These photos are from our quick walk to the park. Despite the snow I was determined to show our guests just how walk-able, and lovely my neighborhood is.
29 : 365 More photos from Elycia’s visit. Why can’t they just live closer?!!?

This morning I woke up to a ton of snow. It looks so beautiful falling outside my window, and from the second story I have an awesome view of all the snow covered houses in our neighborhood. It’s a perfect day to bundle up, drink alllll the tea, and work on my laptop from the couch. Hope your week is off to a lovely start.

project 365 : days 12 – 20

by Kaylah Stroup January 23, 2017
12 : 365 I was going to caption this “one of my favorite plants”. Who am I kidding though?! Everything in this apartment is one of my favorites. Before moving I purged my plant collection. I gave away everything that I wasn’t crazy about or that I knew wouldn’t survive without summers outside. I still have a ton of plants but every one of them is a favorite.
13 : 365 Just my puppy dog enjoying the sunshine that pours into the living room.
14 : 365 This? This is Professor laying in a pot full of dirt. My little dirt kitten. The cats always hide when people come over. On this occasion someone came out to fix our internet and this is where my genius cat decided to “hide”. After the internet was fixed Jeff and I ran to Ikea – a whole day excursion – and when we got back Professor was STILL snoozing in his dirt bed. As I’ve mentioned a bunch of times in the past, neither of the cats have ever bothered my plants so I’m kind of surprised at this choice of a place to catch some z’s.
15 : 365 Twirling! Find the full outfit details + more photos here.
16 : 365 That’s just a suggestion, right?
17 : 365 Sooo Klaus and I were shooting a photo for Milk-Bone and their brushing chews (which help clean your pup’s teeth!) when my treat obsessed little cat came rocketing over because any bag crinkling is definitely for him, of course! I just kept shooting as Professor barged his way into our shot and ended up capturing this photo which nearly made me fall over with laughter. Professor wanted those chews SO badly. I wish I could have turned this in as my final photo. “Treats so tasty even the cat wants them!” Hehe!
18 : 365 One of the shelves in my office. I’m sure it’ll get rearranged about fifteen more times before I settle exactly how I’d like it but it’s pretty good for now.
19 : 365 I just finished reading Shrill by Lindy West. Dude. I LOVED IT. Highly, highly recommend checking that out.
20 : 365 Things currently on my desk. I’m super duper into these markers right now. I was browsing stationery items on Amazon and was suggested these marker pens. I read the reviews and was like “Oh. Okay. I need to own those!” I loooove them. They don’t bleed through the page, the case they come in stands up which is way rad, and they make my list making even more fun than I already thought it was.

six things I started using in 2016 that rule!

by Kaylah Stroup December 8, 2016

Can you believe it’s time to start writing end of the year round up posts? Me either! I have no idea where the year went but I do know that I started using some really awesome things over the last twelve months. I’ve never really done a round up post quite like this one but there was a handful of items that I really wanted to blog about because they made such an impact on my life. So, in alphabetical order, the six best things I started using in 2016 are…

Aveda Hand Relief Moisturizing Creme. THE best lotion, ever. Not only does it leave my hands so soft and moisturized, it also smells heavenly. Shortly after getting this I got my hands on another Aveda lotion, their candrimā™ body lotion, which is equally as amazing. So maybe it’s just Aveda? Either way, I have literally never used a better lotion! My skin gets incredibly dry in the winter (because I really reeeally love hot showers) so this lotion has been a godsend!

Digit. I already shared my love of Digit here. Nothing has changed since then except for the fact I’ve saved even more money! I really don’t think there is any one who wouldn’t benefit from using Digit!

Diva Cup. I’m sorry if you’re flinching already. This has been something I’ve wanted to write about since I first bought it earlier in the year. I know a lot of people are really grossed out talking about periods but I’m not and I honestly consider my diva cup LIFE CHANGING. Seriously. I used to constantly stress about leaking so my period was a nightmare. SO much anxiety. But with my diva cup, I know I have nothing to worry about! I honestly don’t know why it took me so long to get one but I will never ever ever go back to tampons. Paired with a period tracker, I use Flo, you will never stain your favorite undies again! I love it so much that I could probably ramble on and on about my diva cup forever. I absolutely encourage you to look into getting one.

obsessed with my rose gold Fitbit band. sooo pretty!

Fitbit Alta. I actually had this post almost finished before I realized I forgot to write about one of my Fitbit. Ahh! Whoops. While, I admit, I’ve fallen a little bit and don’t hit 10,000 steps every single day like I did when I first bought it its still a huge motivation to move more. Since getting my Fitbit I, without a doubt, get so much more exercise.

NuMe Curling Wand. I can’t believe how beautiful my hair looks when I use my curling wand. It helps me achieve my dream hair. For the longest time I was a fan of using foam curlers but after getting my curling wand the curls I get from the foam curlers just don’t cut it anymore. You can read my post on my curling wand here.

Wet n Wild H2O Proof Liquid Eyeliner. Back in October I made a list of my favorite beauty products. In that post I mentioned how I loved Stila eyeliner but always went looking for a cheaper alternative when I ran out. I FINALLY found an eyeliner I like more. For $3.99 you’d be crazy not to at least try what I now consider the ultimate eyeliner. It’s so easy to get nice, crisp lines and this stuff stays on so well! It comes out solid solid soliiiid black in one swipe. I can do a perfect cat eye in no time flat with this eyeliner. There is no need for me to ever purchase a different product now that I’ve found this one.

Also, it’s not really along the same lines as the things listed in this post but Professor in a bow tie is a pretty darn fabulous thing that happened this year. Pets by Carvas rules. I really didn’t think it was possible for me to think that cat was any cuter but somehow he is. It makes me smile every single time I see it. Every kitty needs a bow tie.

Did you find any products this year that are off the hook? I wanna hear all about them.

Friday Favorites #382

by Kaylah Stroup September 16, 2016
Last year I realized that sweaters from Sugarhill Boutique were basically the bee’s knees. They fit me so well. Aaaand now it’s like they’re designing things just for me! I NEED this sweater.
(via: Modcloth)
Donut kid yourself, this patch is adorable.

 (via: Amazon)
I was just thinking how sad I will be to take down my moon calendar when the year ends but then I spotted this which is incredibly similar…and maybe even a little bit cooler!
 (via: Moorea Seal)
This teaching model kills me. It’s beeeeautiful!
(via: towerpoppies)
I absolutely love this print by Leigh Cox!
 (via: Leigh Cox)
Not even going to lie, from the main photo on the listing I thought this was a candle and I thought it sounded awesome. When I went to grab a photo for this post I realized it wasn’t a candle at all but literal maple cream… and I’m still super into it! That sounds delicious.
 (via: The Syrup Shop)
This shirt!
 (via: Curious Prints)
I basically enjoy all cutesy kitchen items but this mushroom mortar and pestle takes the cake!!
(via: Modcloth)
Cactus tooth pick holder!
 (via: Mustard)
I can always find room for one more patch, especially when it’s a cactus!
 (via: PatchMeSo)
Boy, this post sure has a theme this week, huh? Why stop now? Here’s a cactus watch!
 (via: Moorea Seal)
I saved the best for last, Melissa from Miss Missy Paper Dolls made a paper doll of me… and it’s the absolute coolest thing ever.

(via: Miss Missy Paper Dolls)

Link love…
▴ Spine candle! Perfect for Halloween…or all year long if you’re like me!
▴ Opted to share a link to this instead of including the photo because even I can admit it’s a little creepy, but I kiiiind of need this for my collection of dental odds and ends.
▴ You guys, I don’t even drink but there was no way I could not share this corgi bottle stopper with you. It’s so cute!
▴ This studio applause sign is super neat.
▴ Love this gold bralette and panties set!

Happy Friday!!
