project 365

project 365 : days 260 – 266

by Kaylah Stroup September 25, 2017

260 : 365 A foggy sunrise on the road I grew up on. Jeff and I left super early in the morning to drop Klaus off at my parents so we could take a quick mini trip up to Syracuse. It was foggy most of the drive there but we couldn’t resist stopping when the sky was treating us to those colors.

261 : 365 I got a new pair of glasses from Alice & Olivia. They have a handful of really unique styles. These are Ludlow in blush and in them I look like someone’s cat lady aunt whiiiich I definitely am.

262 : 365 I’ve been working with Underlined to promote their Instagram sweepstakes. Each week there is a new photo prompt and a different awesome prize you could win. The best part is the prompts are actually really fun. Last week’s was sweet treats and sweet reads so I shared a photo of no bake cookies since they’re my current favorite snack aaaand Professor decided to make my little photoshoot the cutest ever. I didn’t end up using this shot but it’s cracking me up big time. The shot I used is pretty cute too though…

263 : 365 Trash hog reflection.

264 : 365 Shelf thaaangs.

265 : 365 The cutest paper flower / stationery shop, I might be biased though…

266 : 365 Estate sale find of the weekend! I’m getting really into collecting kind of creepy things. Earlier in the summer I bought a spooky little porcelain baby doll, and now I have this photo of ghostly nuns.

Hope your week is off to a great start!

project 365 : days 253 – 259

by Kaylah Stroup September 18, 2017

253 : 365 Jeff and I spent the morning geocaching. Found a handful but this was my favorite find of the day. I thought I had missed the cicadas for the year, and after last year’s huge emergence I was bummed.

254 : 365 My ridiculous new phone case!

255 : 365 I replanted some cuttings from pencil cactus in it’s pot. It look so much healthier being full at the bottom like that. Left is before, right is after. Fingers crossed they root.

256 : 365 An arrangement of things found on and around the beach, plus some really rad skeleton socks.

257 : 365 I bought some new plants and have basically taken a photo of them every day since. They’re just SO cute.

258 : 365 Upside down Squid. Deeeefinately hoping to get her belly rubbed.

259 : 365 Another new plant and a silly new planter.

Hope your week is off to an awesome start!

project 365 : days 246 – 252

by Kaylah Stroup September 11, 2017

246 : 365 Two things significant about this photo. 1. She was 115!!! 2. This cemetery was supposed to be just a quick stop while we were down in Louisville. Then we got there and I was like “whaaaaaaa?!” Eastern Cemetery is an ‘abandoned’ cemetery that folks have been working to clean up for the last few years. I knew that going into it but I didn’t realize how overgrown it still was. I had the time of my life running around in the tall grass, shooting photos. I have so so so many pictures to share soon.

247 : 365 The remnants of an abandoned train station.

248 : 365 Rainbows, rainbow, rainbows! I bought a thing to make my apartment even more packed to the brim with rainbows. More on that coming soon but in the mean time, check out this post about my other rainbow makers.

249 : 365 A quick look at my pin collection. It was a hot mess so I sat down and reorganized everything.

250 : 365 Our geocaching adventure for the day took us to a stream we had never been to before. It appealed to me because it clearly doubled as a dumping ground or was down stream from one at some point. Old bottles, pottery, and other strange odds and ends were poking out of the ground. I could have spent forever there searching for treasure. I didn’t find anything worth bringing home but I did see a shopping cart filled with sticks, and build a cairn from a huge random metal object and some rocks.

251 : 354 A very clever geocache!

252 : 365 My nephew turns 14 today and for his birthday he wanted Jeff and I to join him and his pals on a bike ride down a trail that is just lined with geocaches. I’m tickled pink that my nephew thinks we’re cool enough that he wanted to hang with us on his birthday. He’s super rad, and we have a ton of hobbies in common. We biked for around six hours and found 65 geocaches. It was a blast.

It was a really awesome week. Jeff had taken the week off work so that we could take a roadtrip. My dad’s surgery, which was supposed to be last week, got rescheduled for the week we were going to be away. Needless to say, that ended up getting canceled. We decided to take a mini trip to Louisville, and then spend the rest of the week goofing off around our house. Basically, we had a staycation. It was great. I never thought I was the staycationing type but 10/10, would definitely do again!

project 365 : days 239 – 245

by Kaylah Stroup September 4, 2017

239 : 365 Just a super happy puppy. Look at those silly teeth!

240 : 365 Jeff shot some outfit photos for me. It was so awesome to not have to take them myself. They came out super cute. I’ll share them later this week but for now, my shoes.

241 : 365 Two things I love cactus + bokeh.

242 : 365 Professor looking pretty unimpressed with the amount of rainbows in the living room.

243 : 365 My favorite place to catch Squid relaxing.

244 : 365 Friday night ice cream. I got a butterfinger affogato. I would share photos… but I basically inhaled it.

245 : 365 Saturday morning ritual of getting coffee + donuts with my dude.

This week’s Project 365 feels so quick and to the point. It was such a busy week. Plans changed about forty different times but I started the week thinking I’d have only two days to get two whole weeks worth of work done. I was wildly productive for a couple days then basically crashed after that. Photos definitely weren’t high on my to-do list. I’m looking forward to making it up to my camera this week.

Hope your week is off to an excellent start!

project 365 : days 232 – 238

by Kaylah Stroup August 28, 2017

232 : 365 Sunday evening outfit photos. You can find the resulting post here.

233 : 365 I hadn’t thought too much about the eclipse before looking out my window and spotting a bunch of my neighbors staring at the sky. I decided to grab my camera and head outside. This is what I shot.  There are a few other shots over on my instagram, they actually became the most liked thing I’ve ever posted.

234 : 365 Earling morning sunshine coming into my office.

235 : 365 The fact that this photo is overexposed almost makes it even more creepy. This expressive little kitten is my favorite photography subject.

236 : 365 I took a few last minute photos for the post on fun lighting around my apartment. Definitely recommend checking that out if you haven’t yet! The rest of the lights are way more awesome than this photo lets on.

237 : 365 Friday’s outfit. Pins by Hemleva, found on Moorea Seal. I feel like this is a pretty accurate depiction of what I’ve been wearing a whole lot of lately. Overalls, bandana, pins + stripes!

238 : 365 I have some new shoes… and I’m obsessed. I was originally leaning toward the black pair but decided I wanted to try something out of my comfort zone. Leopard print is definitely outside my comfort zone. I actually really really love them. They’re super cozy too!

Hope your week is off to a great start!

project 365 : days 225 – 231

by Kaylah Stroup August 21, 2017

225: 365 Jeff and I went over to visit my parents and hang out for a while. After some convincing my mom let me pick some flowers from her garden to make a bouquet. Arranging whatever I can get my hands on is one of my favorite things in the world. I can’t wait to have space for a garden some day. I’m gonna grow alllllllll the dang flowers!!

226 : 365 Another estate sale find from last week. I haven’t been going to very many lately but one advertising tons of taxidermy was too much for me to resist. I didn’t manage to get my hands on what I really wanted (a squirrel!) but I did come home with these. They’re perfect for my living room and were the perfect push to finally get things hung on the last empty wall in that room.

More living room stuff! For my birthday my parents got me this really rad light. I had the perfect spot for it above a bookcase. Seriously, my living room went up about ten cool point this last week. It feels like it’s finally time for a full living room tour.

227 : 365 My internet was down (come to find out the line had apparently ripped out by a large vehicle that drove by!) so I decided to use my time wisely and go explore new cemeteries. I hit five new to me cemeteries all before noon. I took a handful of photos in each but only shot one for the blog. I’m very excited to share those photos later this week.

228 : 365  I shot some photos of my new Athleta goods, and ended up feeling inspired to write a big long post on body image. I finished it in one sitting, which isn’t normally something I do. I wanted to hit publish right away but felt a bit self conscious, as I always do with really personal posts. I’m excited/nervous to re-read it today and most likely queue it up for later this week.  On a slightly different note, this sweater is beyond cozy. Looking forward to living in it this fall.

229 : 365 Sunset from my living room window.

230 : 365 I took one photo of my dinner at like 10pm and it is so bad I’d rather pretend I didn’t take any photos on this day.

231 : 365 August 19th was International Geocaching Day. Jeff and I spent our morning out driving around looking for them and then later in the day we met up with my brother and his wife for dinner and more geocaching. All in all, we found fourteen total!

Hope your week is off to a great start!

project 365 : days 219 – 224

by Kaylah Stroup August 14, 2017

219 : 365 I bet people who don’t constantly rearrange things have so much time on their hands. Only half joking here because, wow, I spend a lot of time scooting furniture and plants around. I really love those plants by the bookshelf! I’m sure in another month I’ll find an even better place for them though. …Because that’s just how it goes.

220 : 365 16.5 miles around the city. Not too shabby for a week night, eh?

221 : 365 Things on and near my desk. (teeth can be found here)

222 : 365 These planters and rainbows are some of my favorite things in my living room.

223 : 365 Pineapple shoes! Perfect to add a little flair to any outfit! (These exact ones are no longer available but I found a similar pair!)

224 : 365 Jeff and I found a record number of geocaches on Saturday! 18! Wooo! I honestly cannot stop thinking of geocaching. You know when you play a video game for too long and then when you close your eyes its what you see? Well, basically that is happening to me. The last few nights when I lay down and close my eyes before falling asleep I’m picturing walking around with my phone out shouting to Jeff how many feet it says I am away from the cache.

Other than geocaching, we also went to estate sales on Saturday! I haven’t been to one in far too long. I couldn’t resist this one though, promising tons of taxidermy. Despite getting there right as the doors opened, I watched a bunch of old men grab everything I wanted. Oh well. I did come home with a set of mounted horns and this very creepy porcelain baby. At first I just thought he’d look neat on a shelf in my living room but now I honestly want a whole collection of them.

Hope your week is off to an excellent start!

project 365 : days 212 – 218

by Kaylah Stroup August 7, 2017

212 : 365 I was trying to get a photo of Professor laying here on the table right by our front door but clearly the lighting wasn’t working in my favor. I do think it’s hilarious you can see his creepy little teeth though. He looks like an angry little snake.

213 : 365 Squid has been so darn affectionate lately. She’s been doing this thing where she just walks up to you and buries her face in your arm. It’s very sweet.

214 : 365 Birthday bike ride to the beach.

215 : 365 Leftover cake and some of my favorite coffee for breakfast. Seriously, that coffee is too good. Drinking it out of the carton really adds to the taste too. That almost sounds like I’m being sarcastic but truly, I LOVE the flavor it adds. Reminds me a lot of the milk in the small carton you’d get at school, except its coffee!

216 : 365 Photos like this of my sweet little angel of a kitten absolutely crack me up. He looks so mean! Really he was just excited about light and I was saying “get it! get it, buddy!” That’s usually what’s happening behind the scenes anytime you see a photo of him with his mouth open.

217 : 365 My birthday bike ride! The goal was hit fifty miles but we started a little late in the day, took too many long stops for snacks, and had a slower paced rider. Still a ton of fun! I totaled 28 miles for the day. Not too shabby!

Previous to this ride I think my longest had been around 30 miles which absolutely kicked my butt. I was so tired afterward. This ride felt like nothing. I, of course, was a little tired at the end of the day but definitely still had a lot of miles left in me. I easily could have kept riding for a few more hours. It’s so encouraging to see improvements like this.

218 : 365 Sunday mornings are generally pretty awesome around these parts. I love a slow start to the day with Jeff.

Hope your week is off to a great start!

project 365 : days 205 – 211

by Kaylah Stroup July 31, 2017

205 : 365 Plants on plants on plants.
Tiny face planters by Friend Assembly, eucalyptus pin by Hemleva, and air plants from Aura Creations.

206 : 365 Taking Klaus out in the evenings is normally Jeff’s job but a few evenings ago I took ended up taking him out before bed. Right where the sidewalk and my driveway met I spotted this lil dude. Upside down and dead – like he was waiting for me! He hadn’t dried out yet either so I was able to pin him right away. I’ve already got a couple of these dudes in my insect collection but there’s always room for another!

207 : 365 Just a gal who maybe sorta already went mostly green again and some sparklers.

208 : 365 Pencil cactus!

209 : 365 Friday we woke up early to go camping with my family. I have SO many photos to sort through and edit. I feel very happy with what I shot. I’ll probably have enough to break up into a few blog posts. In the mean time here’s my niece showing Jeff her snake, and the moon.

210 : 365 We stopped at Kinzua Bridge. Jeff and I had visited earlier in the year (photos here!) but it was fun to go again with my family.
PS. If you have a land camera, you can find film for it here. It’s expensive but so worth it.

211 : 365 On our way home from camping we made a little detour to visit a state hospital. Jeff really enjoys the architecture of this certain type of hospital, I had wanted to check out a psychiatric hosptial cemetery for a while now, and there was a geocache on the hospital grounds so it was really a win/win/win. I didn’t take many photos since basically all of the headstones were the same but I did take a handful of shots essentially  just to say “I was here.” With the spotty lighting I wasn’t sure I’d have anything worth sharing but I did end up loving the photo below. My favorite part has to be that ghostly looking thing near the center of the photo between the tree and the flag. Eeeep!

Hope your week is off to a great start!
xoxo
