project 365 : days 198 – 204

by Kaylah Stroup July 24, 2017

198 : 365 King of the pillows! Also, would you look at that photo of Professor and Squid! They were basically cuddling. Laying that close together is a big deal for them.

199 : 365 I made stuffed peppers for dinner. This is right before they got popped in the oven. I wanted to use chorizo but the grocery store was out. I ended up stuffing the peppers with hot sausage, black beans, onions, and a variety of shredded cheeses we had in the fridge. They were so tasty! I always put off cooking but when I finally do it I feel so accomplished and proud.

200 : 365 Shot some photos of my postcards around the house for the post announcing their release. I really enjoy that one of the abandoned building on that shelf. I should probably just keep one for myself so it can stay there permanently.

201 : 365 My first missed day of the project. Whoops. It was a busy day. I had plans to take my daily photo in the evening but when I got home I realized I had left the fridge open all day. That generally wouldn’t have been such a huge deal but a few days early I had just gone grocery shopping and stocked up on everything. Needless to say, it killed my spirit. Jeff asked if pizza would cheer me up. Of course I said yes so we laid in bed, ate pizza, and fell asleep early.

202 : 365 Wade showing off some video he’d just taken of us on his roof. After this we biked 15 or so miles. I sadly didn’t take any photos on the ride. Definitely wishing I did though!

203 : 365 Jeff and I took a short walk together, in the oppressive heat, so I could pick some weeds to make an arrangement. This is one of my favorite summer activities.

204 : 365 Ziggy enjoying? hating? getting used to? the water. We got an early start to the day and headed to a swimming hole before the summer weekened crowd took over. It was a blast. I do love a nice, clean swimming pool but there is definitely something special about places like this.

Here’s to making this an awesome week! …Maybe one where I don’t leave the fridge open.

project 365 : days 191 – 197

by Kaylah Stroup July 17, 2017

191 : 365 Wrestlemania.

192 : 365 The cutest kitty lapel pin from Bee’s Knees Industries (and an excuse to show off my new hair color again!)

193 : 365 16.5 miles zig zagging around the city. On the way home Jeff and I stopped off at this little overlook to shoot the sunset and flowers. I didn’t get any awesome shots of the sky but I like my photo of the flowers. They look so whimsical. Also, Jeff got a really cute photo of me hanging out in the flowers.

194 : 365 I got some dentures in the mail (thank you, Stephanie!) and thought it’d be funny to take a photo of them beside Professor. I was not expecting that face from him but it absolutely kills me. How did I end up with the most expressive kitty ever!?

195 : 365 Home made iced coffee with cholocate and caramel syrup! Earlier this year I bought a cold brew maker. It’s the best! I drink so much more iced coffee. It’s great to just always have some ready, especially when it’s hot out. Nothing beats iced coffee!

196 : 365 Mindi shared a photo of her TDS zipper pouch collection which (gave me butterflies and) inspired me to shoot some photos of my pouches as well. You can still grab this one as well as a handful of other designs here.

197 : 365 Sunday was Taste of Tremont which is a huge neighborhood food fesitival. Usually we have to walk or bike in because it gets SO crazy. This year though? I live literally one block away. So we actually moved my car out on to the street early in the morning, let family park in our driveway for most of the day and after they left started charging. We had two “customers”, made $20 and immediately spent that on food. It was A+ puppy watching. I’m already lookin’ forward to next year.

Happy Monday! Hope your week is off to a great start.

project 365 : days 184 – 190

by Kaylah Stroup July 10, 2017

184 : 365 I was taking photos of my new hair color when Jeff wandered into my office. I hit the button on my remote a few times without bothering to check if we were in focus or anything and ended up with this shot. I absolutely love it. It’s even better in color but then you wouldn’t be surprised when I revealed my new hair tomorrow! Heh!

185 : 365 Shot an outfit post that turned out to be one of my absolute favorites. Sometimes I feel like I’m shooting solid gold and then have a hard time finding even six shots to post from the set but I had such a hard time choosing which of the thirty or so perfect photos to include. I LOVE when that happens. I’ll share the full outfit tomorrow but for now, you can just check out my shoes!

186 : 365 After a while of trying to keep my bike as clean and streamlined as possible I recently started adding little odds and ends… and I can’t believe it took me so long! I resisted a water bottle cage for a long time but sometimes I’d really just like to ride without a backpack. Finding that bottle definitely helped the decision too! I also bought a brand new headlight, and of course, I have that ridiculous shark horn. I am ready to ride!

187 : 365 “Jeff, what did you do to his ears?”
” I fixed them.”

188 : 365 So dumb. I love him.

189 : 365 Pretty new pins!

190 : 365 Coffee + donuts – my favorite weekend morning ritual. If you’re local and not eating Peace, Love and Little Donuts, you’re missin’ out!

What a crazy week! First of all, the obvious, the week was all weird because of the fourth. Jeff had off Monday and Tuesday which made Wednesday feel like Monday. Of course that throws off the whole week. Then, on Wednesday, I got a phone call that I was cast to be an extra in a pretty awesome project for one of Cleveland’s biggest attractions. So Friday, Saturday and Sunday I spent a lot of my day in a green room waiting for my turn to plaster on a fake smile. It was a pretty wild experience. As soon as I see the final product I’ll be sure to share, and write a little about the whole experience. It was definitely out of my comfort zone but WAY fun. I’m proud of myself for doing something different but y’all, I am people-ed out and ready to hibernate for approximately a week.

Hope your Monday is off to an awesome start. Make sure to stop back tomorrow to see my new hair color. I am so excited to show you!!! xoxo

project 365 : days 177 – 183

by Kaylah Stroup July 3, 2017

177 : 365 Fancy pants new pillow – which is literally the most comfortable pillow I have ever laid my head on – and some cactus sheets I still can’t get enough of. Also, while searching for a link to those sheets I found this cactus shirt from Target that I had somehow never seen before.

178 : 365 I really love my black desk and how colorful it makes everything else look.

179 : 365 Flowers drying. This arrow makes the best possible display for dried flowers. I love it!

180 : 365 I think its hilarious that the first shot is crisp and in focus and the second one, where he looks like he’s screaming, is out of focus. It reminds me of one of those memes where someone realizes something and the second frame looks like its at hyperspeed. That’s a truly awful description but hopefully you know what I’m talking about. If not, Professor is cute so whatever.

181 : 365 Do you guys think I like these Friend Assembly planters, or nah? I mean I’ve only posted a million photos of them. I just really love inanimate objects with faces and I love plants, obviously, so these are the perfect combination. I need a whole army of them.

182 : 365 Fourth of July shenanigans. We usually camp out at my parents for the weekend but Jeff had a wedding to shoot the next morning so we were only able to stay for the day. Don’t think that means I didn’t have a ton of fun, and eat until my belly was about to explode though! My parents always throw a rad party. Fireworks that rival the ones you’d see anywhere else except in the comfort of only family and friends. Its the best!

183 : 365 Home, sweet rainbow filled home!

Hope your week is off to an awesome start!
xoxo

project 365 : days 170 – 176

by Kaylah Stroup June 26, 2017

170 : 365 My current favorite breakfast – avocado mashed up with goat cheese on an everything bagel and topped with radish. It’s so good, and so easy!

171 : 365 I got a new band for my apple watch and surprise surprise it’s just as exciting as getting a new phone case (which is very exciting!)

172 : 365 21 miles all across the city. I still get a kick out of that silly shark horn.

173 : 365 I had told Jeff I was having a rough day. When I got home he had flowers and coffee waiting for me. He’s a sweetheart.

174 : 365 Typical “hurry up and take a photo before you forget” photo. I’ve been taking too many of those this last month. I feel like there has been one every week. I’ve gotta step up my game!

175 : 365 Another evening spent on my bike. I seriously love nothing more. I’ve put in 42 miles this last week, and it feels amazing. I feel amazing.

176 : 365 Just some dork I have a crush on.

Hope your week is off to a wonderful start!
xoxo

project 365 : days 163 – 169

by Kaylah Stroup June 19, 2017

163 : 365 Professor doing what Jeff would refer to as “kindergarten smile.” Its where you tell a kid to smile and they just show their teeth.

164 : 365 I attempted another #ghostkaylah shot. As you probably guessed from my use of the word “attempted”, I don’t feel like it was super successful. I guess I just feel like the background is too distracting. Practice makes perfect though!

165 : 365 Basically the perfect keychain for me!

166 : 365 I feel like I caught a rare photo of Professor thinking about his life choices. I really love the way he’s melting into the couch.

167 : 365 A peek at the pouches I’ve been working on this month! They’re ready to list online, I just need to take photos. This is another collection featuring my beach finds. I’m super excited about those neat-o two color zippers. Can’t wait to show you more.

168 : 365 You get to see a photo of a skull because I really did not want to include another photo of Professor in this week’s post. I was off my Project 365 game this week and ended up realizing “oh crap, I haven’t taken a photo that wasn’t of a cat yet!” after the sunset more than once.

Anyway! I found this skull along the tracks while taking the #ghostkaylah selfie earlier in the week. I didn’t have anything on me to pick it up with at the time but it was in such nice condition and so clean that I decided to go back the next day with gloves and a bag. This is after being washed off with soap. It’s currently soaking in a peroxide bath. It’s been so long since I cleaned a skull, I feel a bit rusty.  PS. If you’re interested in cleaning your own skulls – you can read more here.

169 : 365 I grew up catching tadpoles with legs but all these years later they still blow my mind. So cool to be able to see a part of a frog’s lifecycle like this.

And because yesterday was Father’s Day I’ve included a photo of my dad.

I’m so relieved this coming week won’t be as hot as last week. I blame my lack of diverse photos on the fact that I spent a lot of time in the bedroom trying to cool off. We only have one window air conditioning unit and the bedroom is the easy choice for where it should go since no one likes being hot when its time to go to bed. It means the rest of the house is an inferno though. Poor Squid was so hot that she let Jeff pet her with an ice cube in his hand. She didn’t just put up with it, she LOVED it. He melted the whole thing on her. So yeah, I’m definitely looking forward to a cooler week!

Hope you’re staying cool!
xoxo

project 365 : days 149 – 155

by Kaylah Stroup June 5, 2017

149 : 365 Jeff and I woke up early, ran around the neighborhood, then took a quick drive to an abandoned hospital. I felt a little rushed so I never ended up setting up my tripod. I still feel like I managed to get a few cool shots though. I’m excited to go back and shoot more.

150 : 365  Early morning beach combing. Do you see my tiny rainbow arrangement? I actually have a handful of found on the beach arrangement posts in my drafts, I just don’t want to overwhelm y’all with them. I am pretty excited about the photos from this set though.

151 : 365 I’ve been trying to take more selfies lately. I guess it seems like a narcissistic goal but… uh, oh well. I enjoy documenting my hair colors (definitely something I’ve been bad at lately!) and I like capturing these little snippets of my life. I can look at selfies from years ago and immediately recall so much about the day and what was going on. Here’s me and some of my bones (and here’s another with more bones!)

152 : 365 Klaus got another Barkbox in the mail. My heart feels like exploding when I see how incredibly excited he gets about it. This month’s box was western themed. One of the toys was a squeaky cowboy boot, and Klaus has not stopped carrying it around. (PS. I reviewed Barkbox back in April, check out the post here.)

Professor looking super jealous of Klaus + his box of treats.

153 : 365 Buddies!!

154 : 365 Fifteen miles around the city, some alley chickens, and interesting window coverings.

155 : 365 Look! I have a water dog!!! Jeff and my dad were shooting targets across the creek. Each time they’d cross to check how they were doing, Klaus would follow and plop down in the water for a brief period. I’m so excited that he’s getting more and more comfortable with water. I’m very much looking forward to seeing if he’ll actually swim this summer. Fingers crossed!

It’s been such a rad week! I ran five out of the seven days, biked a bunch, and generally was just active. I feel amazing. I’m looking forward to making this week even better! Hope yours rules too!
xoxo

project 365 : days 142 – 148

by Kaylah Stroup May 29, 2017

142 : 365 I am obsessed with this photo of Professor. He’s such a beautiful little baby.

143 : 365 An air plant and some land camera photos from vacation. Definitely still feel like I’m coming down from the vacation high.

PS. If you’re looking for film for your land camera, you can find it here.

144 : 365 Skeleton toe socks and a spooky little kitten.

145 : 365 Things that live on the table beside my desk.

146 : 365 Post Critical Mass ice cream date with my brother and his family at Mason’s Creamery. I got an affogato, as per usual.

147 : 365 Saturday shenanigans.

abandoned cleveland, abandoned factory

148 : 365 Squid and Professor tolerate each other – no more, no less. In all the years they’ve been living together I’ve never seen them cuddling together but y’all this sure as heck looks like progress!!!

Happy Monday! Hope your week is off to a wonderful start.

project 365 : days 135 – 141

by Kaylah Stroup May 23, 2017

135 : 365 The only photo I took last Monday. I spent the day frantically packing, trying to relax by playing Zelda, and then… FLYING!

136 : 365 First whole vacation day! These are some random shots from Nevada. I’m always excited by tumbleweeds.

137 : 365 Perkins Park in Pacific Grove, California.

138 : 365 A wonderful scenic overview along the coast. Technically this wasn’t the overview but Jeff and I wandered around the tracks, and I even dipped underneath them to a neat little secret beach.

139 : 365 Sunrise at an abandoned building after the worst night’s sleep at a rest area. Well, maybe not the worst but it certainly wasn’t a cozy night’s sleep.

140 : 365 Ground squirrels are honestly one of my favorite things about California. Later this day we actually drove out of our way to visit a spot that was supposed to be overrun with squirrels. I definitely have more photos to share with you on another day!

141 : 365 Soaking my plant babies after a week away.

Whew! What a week. If you haven’t been following along on instagram, you may have missed the fact that I’ve been away. Jeff and I took a spur of the moment vacation… and it was awesome! We did so much! I have 2,000+ photos to sort through and edit. I have lots and lots to share over the next few weeks. I’m so excited to show y’all the amazing stuff I saw!
